Phone vibrates but no transaction occurs

I have successfully used Apple Pay with my current iPhone (6S), but recently I've been running into the problem that when I touch my iPhone to the terminal device the iPhone vibrates, like it has done its thing, but the terminal does nothing. No transaction. My iPhone seems to be doing its part, but the terminal does not respond. I get no messages, errors or otherwise. Just left at the register, sheepishly pulling out my wallet. It's happened three times in a row at different stores, and different terminals. Any thoughts?

Hi Greg

If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone to the latest software (presently iOS 9.2):

- Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

It may help to restart your iPhone.

If the issue persists, next try removing the payment card from Apple Pay on your iPhone and then adding it back again.

- On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, tap the card that you want to remove and then tap on Remove Card.

- Then add the card back to Apple Pay: Set up and use Apple Pay on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
